Programme aims and overview

This intense Refresher course is designed for family mediators who have passed a foundation training course, but either:

  • Have not achieved their accreditation within the 3 years and are working towards it, or
  • Are accredited but have had a pause in their mediation work and are now returning to their practice, or
  • Want to update their practice and professional development

It is currently delivered online in 6 half-day sessions, although it can be delivered as a 3 day course in-person (all dependent on covid-related gathering/travelling restrictions). The learning integrates theoretical, practical and self-reflective aspects. The format of the course is highly interactive, and includes pre-course assignment and reading, online face-to-face delivery with group discussions, practical exercises and simulations of detailed mediation scenarios, as well as personal study and reflection.

Objectives

a) To refresh meditator’s knowledge of the mediation process;

b) To update their mediation skills;

c) To provide an update on relevant developments since their training;

d) To encourage participant’s considerations of their next steps, so that they can pursue accreditation with renewed confidence.
